You’re on keto but fast food is the only option around? Well, that’s not ideal, but with a few tips and tricks, even low carb dieters can find something for themselves, even at Dairy Queen.
Just so you know, we’re not encouraging you to eat at any fast food restaurant. Preparing your meals at home is your best option because it’s the only way you’ll know what you’re putting inside of your body.
However, if you’re on the road or doing so is not something you can do at the moment, take a look at our tips below on what to order at Dairy Queen:
3 Rules on How to Eat Keto at Dairy Queen
There are not too many Dairy Queen keto options, but if you’re on a low carb diet you can manage to eat anything nearly anywhere as long as you follow certain rules.
Remember that keto diet works best when you eat at home and know what you’re putting on your plate. The less ingredients your low carb meal has, the better.
However, if you’re on the road and Dairy Queen is the only drive through around, keep those 3 rules in mind:
1. Stick to bunless burgers
Stay away from combos altogether and order a single burger without the bun. Your best bet is to get a bunless and sauceless burger, then just ask for yellow mustard, mayo or ranch dressing on the side and assemble it yourself.
The only no-no when it comes to burgers is crispy chicken. Stick to a grilled chicken breast instead.
2. Forget your sweet tooth at the door
Keto dieters have tons of temptations the moment they enter Dairy Queen, and I’m not even talking about traditional fast food here.
Steer clear of all the ice creams, sweets, slushies, soft drinks, cakes and foods that fall into the dessert category. None of these should belong on your low carb menu.
3. If you’re questioning it, it’s not for a low carb diet already
Low carb should be simple and the same goes for the ketogenic diet while eating out. If it doesn’t look like something you would eat at home, don’t go for it.
Your Dairy Queen keto low carb options are limited and your best bet is to order a simple bunless burger without sauce, a plain side salad or mix up something of your own from the low carb friendly add-ons mentioned below.

Our Final Opinion
Overall, eating low carb at Dairy Queen is no easy task. However, we hope that you can choose from options at Dairy Queen without a hassle and pick a nice meal for yourself that’s low in carbs.
We’re kind of bummed that Dairy Queen doesn’t offer the chicken bacon ranch sandwich anymore, it used to be a great low carb option if you ordered it without the bun. For some reason I don’t see it on the menu anymore.
To sum it up, I know making your own meals at home is not the most convenient option all the time, but if there is a way you can do so, you will thank yourself in the long run.
