I know one of the things we miss the most on keto is pizza. While there are tons of keto friendly pizza recipes online, sometimes you’re just craving take out. I get it! The awesome thing about Marco’s Pizza keto friendly options is that they have pizza bowls. And yes, Marcos Pizza Bowls are totally keto.
How to Survive Keto at Marco’s Pizza?
It’s really not as hard as you may think. As opposed to Domino’s or Pizza Hut, Marco’s Pizza serves crustless pizza bowls. It’s not the authentic Italian quality pizza taste, but it’s as close you can get especially on the ketogenic diet.
Here are 3 rules to follow:
- Stay away from pizza crust. Although this is probably a no-brainer, sometimes you might get tempted and think that one slice will fit into your macros and net carbs for the day.Don’t even think about it! To give you an example, a slice from the small cheese pizza without the original sauce is 23g of total carbs. Once you calculate net carbs, it’s still 22g.22g of net carbs for a small slice of pizza? No thanks.
- Avoid calzones, sides and subs with buns. I know finger foods are awesome, but now at Marco’s Pizza. Stick to pizza bowls instead or if you’re not one of the pizza lovers, get a sub without the bun instead.
- No desserts & sugary drinks. That’s usually the case at any take out fast food joint!
Hack Marco’s Pizza Bowls to make them keto!
All of Marcos pizza bowls are under 20g of net carbs, but what if I told you you can cut down on the carbs even more?
Simply ask for none of their signature pizza sauce. It contains 7g of total carbs and 1g of dietary fiber which amounts to 6g of net carbs!
Since tomatoes are the base for any pizza sauce, you can only imagine the amount of sugar it contains. Therefore, let’s stay away!

Considering the serving size equals to a half of the pizza bowl, I recommend you skip on the pizza sauce and if you’re on keto for weight loss, watch your calories as well.

Our final opinion
Despite the name, Marco’s Pizza isn’t all that difficult when it comes to choosing a low carb, keto friendly meal. You can choose from crustless pizza bowls, salads or order a sub without the bun.
Most of the toppings are keto friendly as well, aside from pineapple and depending on your preferences, the original sauce isn’t low in net carbs either. The best thing to do is to avoid it altogether.
