Mito red light panels are perfect if you’re on a budget and looking to get the most bang for your buck since it only costs $8.02 per watt.
So in this Mito red light therapy review, I’ll cover everything you need to know about Mito. I’ll go through how red light therapy works, my experiences with Mito, some pros and cons and if it’s worth your time and money.
MitoMEGA
Mito is a trusted brand in red light therapy. This is their flagship light which offers an ample amount of red light power for a very reasonable price.
- Best value option for beginners
- 630, 660, 830 and 850 nanometer wavelengths
The MitoMEGA is the ultimate red and near-infrared light therapy device. If you’re looking to get into red light therapy, the MitoMEGA is your best bet because it’s powerful and affordable.
Mito’s goal when creating this panel was to produce the strongest device possible while keeping costs to a minimum. You won’t find advanced features on the MitoMEGA, but that’s fine because you won’t need them when starting your red light journey.
Here are the dimensions for the MitoMEGA:
- 36 inches long
- 12 inches wide
- Three inches thick
- 25 pounds heavy
The MEGA is slightly bigger and heavier than the MitoMAX, but you’re getting 300 LEDs emitting five watts of light energy each compared to the MAX’s 200.
These are the MitoMEGA features that stand out to me:
- The panel is one of the tallest available
- It offers amazing value
- There aren’t any hotspots
The MitoMEGA is 36 inches tall, and with the 300 LEDs, red light will cover every inch of your body, boosting
I like the value you get with the MEGA. Depending on how you purchase this panel, you can expect to pay $8.03 per watt, cheaper than Joovv and Hooga products.
Multiple third parties also tested the MitoMEGA and found that it doesn’t contain hotspots, so red light is evenly spread across your body.
The only drawback is that it only shines light in the 660 and 850-nanometer range, whereas the MitoPRO offers four bioactive wavelengths.
Pros
- The 36-inch long light covers your entire body with red light
- It only costs $8.03 per watt
- It doesn’t contain hotspots
- You get a pulley system with the light, allowing fi easy positioning
- Mito offers affordable monthly payment plans
Cons
- It only shines two wavelengths of light
MitoPRO 300
The PRO series by Mito is their highest quality and most powerful set of red lights. They are a bit more expensive than the other models but they do provide a higher number of wavelengths for added benefits.
- Most powerful Mito Red Light
- Incorporates the four most bioactive wavelengths
The PRO is Mito’s smallest and most affordable red light panel. It has a sleek look with an easy-to-use digital control panel that allows you to adjust brightness and set a timer.
This red light panel offers four different wavelengths. These include 630, 660, 830 and 850 nanometer wavelengths.
The dimensions are:
- 11 inches long
- 11 inches wide
- Three inches thick
- Seven pounds heavy
Because the MitoPRO has modular capabilities, you can connect it to other red lights like the MitoMOD. This makes upgrading your red light experience super easy. It’s also portable, so your whole family can use it.
I like putting it on my desk, so I can work and do red light therapy simultaneously.
This portability is beneficial if you’re using it to treat elderly patients or anyone who’s bed-bound.
Pros
- The modular design lets you connect it to most Mito devices
- It’s portable so you can take it anywhere in the house
- It comes with a nightstand and eye-protective goggles
- You can choose between four wavelengths of light
Cons
- It doesn’t give you that full-body red light experience
MitoPRO 750
The PRO series by Mito is their highest quality and most powerful set of red lights. They are a bit more expensive than the other models but they do provide a higher number of wavelengths for added benefits.
- Most powerful Mito Red Light
- Incorporates the four most bioactive wavelengths
The MitoPRO 750 is a step up from the 350, and although it offers similar features, you get more power and irradiance. The dimensions of the MitoPRO 750 are:
- 22 inches long
- 10 inches wide
- Three inches thick
- 15 inches heavy
Here are some MitoPRO 300 benefits to look out for:
- You get value for money
- It’s super easy to use
- It offers modular capabilities
The MitoPRO’s 150 LEDs emit 750 watts of power, making it one of the most affordable red light therapy devices in this power range. It also offers an irradiance of over 130mW/cm2 if you’re standing at 6 inches. So although the MitoPRO 750 doesn’t provide advanced features like a mobile app, it makes up for it with value.
It’s also super easy to use. You’ll find a user manual when unboxing the MitoPRO, but you won’t need it since this panel is so simple. Navigate to the digital control screen, set a treatment time, for example, 10 minutes, turn on your light, and you’re good to go.
The last feature that stood out to me was the modular capabilities because it allows for endless flexibility. If you want a bigger panel, you won’t have to sell your MitoPRO 750. Simply get a MitoPRO 1500 and attach it to your current 750.
Pros
- It has an irradiance of 130mW/cm2
- The control panel is easy to operate
- Setting up the MitoPRO 750 is simple
- For a device that emits 750 watts, it’s quite affordable
Cons
- It has the same features as the Mito 300
MitoPRO 1500
The PRO series by Mito is their highest quality and most powerful set of red lights. They are a bit more expensive than the other models but they do provide a higher number of wavelengths for added benefits.
- Most powerful Mito Red Light
- Incorporates the four most bioactive wavelengths
The MitoPRO 1500 is the biggest anel in the MitoPRO series devices. It’s a simple, high-power, low EMF and low flicker device that’s still affordable. The dimensions of the MitoPRO 1500 are:
- 42 inches tall
- 10 inches wide
- Three inches thick
- 25 pounds heavy
When you receive the box, the first thing you’ll notice is the sleek packaging and design. It comes in a tall box containing red light accessories like:
- Eye protective goggles
- A power cable
- Pulley system
- Over the door hook for easy positioning and placement
- Detailed user manual
Although it’s bigger than previous Mito panels, it still works the same way. Take the device out of the box, insert the power cable into your wall, set a timer, and enjoy the red light. It comes in four wavelengths which include 630, 660, 830 and 850 nanometers, giving you a well-rounded exposure to light.
Unlike other red light full-body panels, the MitoPRO 1500 doesn’t have hotspots. The low EMF levels also give you peace of mind knowing you can use it and won’t have long-term effects.
Pros
- It has low EMF levels
- You can choose between four different wavelengths of light
- It doesn’t have hotspots
- It comes with a pulley system and hook that makes setting up your panel simple
Cons
- The panel weighs 25 pounds which can make it difficult to move it around the house
MitoMOD 300
The MitoMOD series is a great option for those looking to save a bit of money but still get a very powerful red light with modular design. This would be the series I would buy if I was shopping for my first red light.
- A good value option that is modular and can be upgraded in the future
- High light output per dollar
The primary difference between the MitoMOD and MitoPRO series is that the MitoMOD only emits red light in the 660 and 850-nanometer wavelengths. But like the MitoPRO series, MitoMOD offers three different panel sizes, and you can connect them.
The MitoMOD 300 is the smallest and most affordable panel in this series. The dimensions are:
- 12 inches high
- Nine inches wide
- Three inches thick
- Six pounds heavy
The power output is also 300 watts and has an irradiance of 135mW/cm2 at six inches. This is high for such an affordable and small panel. So if you’re looking to get into red light therapy, the MOD is a good starting point.
And in the future, if you’d like to get a bigger panel, buy a MitoMOD 600 or 900 and connect it to the 300-watt MOD.
Here are some handy MitoMOD 300 features that stood out to me:
- It offers a good beam angle
- The power consumption is low
- You get a two-year warranty
Many devices use a beam angle of 90 degrees, making it challenging to receive a therapeutic dose of red light from a distance. Fortunately, the MOD 300 offers a 60-degree beam angle, so the red light will still reach the targeted area if you’re standing far away, improving overall health and reducing inflammation.
The power consumption is also low, only clocking in at 115 watts, so you’re saving money on electricity.
Mito is so confident in this red light panel that if something happens to it within two years of purchase, they’ll replace it for you, no questions asked.
Pros
- The 60-degree beam angles means you don’t have to stand close to the panel
- The smaller size and weight ensures you can carry it anywhere
- It doesn’t require a lot of power
- Mito will replace your panel if anything happens to it within two years
Cons
- It only shines light in the 660 and 850 nanometer wavelength
MitoMOD 600
The MitoMOD series is a great option for those looking to save a bit of money but still get a very powerful red light with modular design. This would be the series I would buy if I was shopping for my first red light.
- A good value option that is modular and can be upgraded in the future
- High light output per dollar
The next panel in the MitoMOD range is the MitoMOD 600. It uses 120 five-watt LEDs, giving it a total power output of 600 watts.
Here are the dimensions of this red light device:
- 25 inches high
- Nine inches long
- Three inches thick
- 12 pounds heavy
So although it isn’t as big as a full-body panel, it’s still a good option for half-body treatment.
Let’s say you just came back from the gym, and you’re feeling sore. Turn on your 600-watt Mito, and stand in front of it for 10 to 12 minutes. This is almost as effective as a full-body panel.
These are the features that empowered my life:
- You can pay monthly
- Mito offers a 60-day trial period with no return shipping cost or hidden restocking fees
- Customizing the panels is easy
Red light therapy devices are expensive, even if you’re shopping with an affordable brand like Mito. But fortunately, if you can’t afford the total cost immediately, sign up for the monthly plan. You’ll be able to pay low installments while enjoying the benefits of red light.
If you’re new to Mito panels and unsure if this is the right option, you’ll be happy to know that Mito offers a 60-trial period. So they’ll give you a full refund within 60 days if the Mito doesn’t suit your red light needs.
The last MitoMOD 600 feature that stood out to me was personalization. Building your own red light sauna is simple because all lights can connect with its modular construction.
Pros
- You get a 60-day free trial so there’s no risk on you
- Mito offers monthly payment plans
- It contains 120 five-watt LEDs that boosts ATP production
- Building an infrared sauna is easy because the MitoMOD series connects to other panels
Cons
- There’s no timer functionality
- Larger panels require different nightstands

MitoMIN
This is the original line of light from Mito. They offer a tremendous value but the one big drawback is that they are not modular and cannot be upgraded in the future. A great standalone light.
- Independent 3rd party tested
- Full 2 year warranty
- 14,503 joules per 10 minute session
The MitoMIN is a tiny red light therapy device with a 50,000-hour lifespan making it perfect if you’re looking for a portable yet reliable panel.
These are the dimensions of the MitoMIN:
- 13 inches long
- Nine inches wide
- Three inches thick
- Six pounds heavy
With 60 LEDs shining light in the 660 and 850-nanometer wavelength, you can use it for targeted treatment on your face, joints or sore muscles.
For example, if you’re struggling with acne or any skin condition, put the MitoMIN on your nightstand, and set a timer for 10 minutes to boost
You can also hold it in your hand and point it at any sore joints or muscles for quicker recovery.
The MitoMIN is like the MitoPRO 300 because they are similar in size and both emit 300 watts. However, the MitoPRO 300 offers four wavelengths, while the MitoMIN only uses two. But the MitoMIN is significantly more affordable, making it a better choice for those new to red light.
This red light therapy panel offers the following benefits:
- Free and discounted shipping
- It delivers 14,503 joules in 10 minutes
- The two tiny fans keep the MitoMIN cool
The only drawback is that this red light doesn’t come with a nightstand. You’ll have to hold it towards your face or joints, which can get tiring after a few minutes. If you’re looking for a red light that you can set and forget, consider the MitoMOD or MitoPRO 300.
Pros
- It only offers two wavelengths of light
- The MitoMIN provides 14,503 joules in 10 minutes
- It offers a lifespan of over 50,000 hours
- The two fans keep the red light panel cool
Cons
- You’ll have to hold the light towards your face because it doesn’t come with a nightstand
MitoMID
This is the original line of lights from Mito. They offer a tremendous value but the one big drawback is that they are not modular and cannot be upgraded in the future. A great standalone light.
- Independent 3rd party tested
- Full 2 year warranty
- 24,167 joules per 10 minute session
The MitoMID is a bigger version of the MitoMIN and it produces 150 watts of power and 24,167 joules in a 10-minute red light session. It contains 100 LEDs that shine red light in the 660 and 850-nanometer range.
This range is customizable at the flip of a switch. If you’re treating acne or wrinkles and want to use red light, opt for the 660 nanometer wavelength. Or, if you’re recovering from an injury and need something that’ll penetrate further into the skin, select the 850 nanometer light.
Here are the dimensions for this MitoMID:
- 19 inches long
- Nine inches wide
- Three inches thick
- Nine pounds heavy
Because it’s larger than the MitoMIN, you can put it on your nightstand, pop on your goggles and sit in front of the light without holding it. The 60-degree beam angle allows you to be further away and still experience the benefits of red light.
Here are some MitoMID features that stood out to me:
- It produces an irradiance of over 100mW/cm2 at six inches
- The mini fans ensure the light stays cool
- It comes with a mount that makes for easy positioning of your device
When standing six inches away from the MitoMID, you’ll receive an irradiance of 100mX/cm2, more than enough to provide health benefits without damaging your skin.
I also like the two fans that Mito managed to fit inside the MID. When it senses the panel is getting too hot, these fans automatically turn on. This way, red light treatment won’t raise your body temperature much, which is essential if you do it before bed because heat makes falling asleep harder.
Unlike the MitoMIN that doesn’t come with a nightstand, you’ll find a small mount in the MIN box, allowing for easy positioning.
The only drawback to this series is it doesn’t offer the modular capabilities of the PRO and MOD. So if you want to upgrade your red light experience to a full-body panel, you can’t buy another MitoMID and connect the two. You’ll have to go for a light in the PRO or MOD series.
Pros
- It has an irradiance of over 100mW/cm2 at six inches
- The two fans keep the MitoMIN cool
- The mount lets you take the MitoMIN anywhere in the house for treatment
- It comes with a pulley system and eye protection goggles
Cons
- It doesn’t have modular features
MitoMAX
This is the original line of lights from Mito. They offer a tremendous value but the one big drawback is that they are not modular and cannot be upgraded in the future. A great standalone light.
- Independent 3rd party tested
- Full 2 year warranty
- 48,344 joules per 10 minute session
Being one step above the MitoMID, the MitoMAX is a full-body red light panel powered by 200 LED lights that produce 48,344 joules per 10-minute session. The monthly payment options also make it an affordable way to experience full-body red light benefits.
Here is the dimension of this MitoMAX:
- 36 inches long
- Nine inches wide
- Three inches thick
- 20 pounds heavy
It comes with a power cord, goggles, user manual, door hanging hook, cable pulley system and steel cable.
But when you’re adjusting the red light using the pulley system, I’d suggest avoiding pulling at the end of the steel cable because the MitoMAX is quite heavy. With lighter panels, it’s fine, but if the pulley has to carry 20 pounds and after a few years, it might give in.
So instead, move your panel up and down by adjusting the pulley. You’re holding most of the weight this way, ensuring your pulley lasts long.
These are the MitoMAX features that stood out to me:
- It produces 48,344 joules in a 10 minute session
- The lifespan is over 50,000 hours
- It’s flicker free
The only drawback is that the MitoMAX only shines two wavelengths of light; 600 and 850 nanometers. So if you’re looking for a panel that offers a wider variety of wavelength options, consider the MitoPRO 1500.
Pros
- The monthly payments make it an affordable option
- It emits over 48,344 joules in a 10-minute session
- The red light doesn’t flicker
- It comes with a two-year warranty and 60-day risk trial
Cons
- It only skines two wavelengths of red light
Mito vs Joovv
Mito and Joovv are both practical options for red light enthusiasts. However, these brands have two different product design philosophies.
Mito focuses on building the strongest red light panel possible for the lowest cost. You won’t find advanced features like a mobile app when buying a Mito panel. But if you’re looking for value for money, Mito is your best bet. It offers one of the lowest dollar-to-watt ratios, clocking in at $8.02 per watt.
Joovv creates the most advanced red light panels, so the prices are higher than Mito. But if you’re willing to spend extra cash to have the best red light experience possible, Joovv is worth it.
Joovv offers features like endless customization, a mobile app, red light alarm and upgradeable kit options.
Mito vs Hooga
Hooga red light panels are a mix between Mito and Joovv. It isn’t as expensive as Joovv, but it offers some customization and advanced features.
But what sets Hooga apart is the additional red light items sold on their website like:
- Blue light blocking glasses
- Amber flashlights
- Blue light blocking book light
- Rechargeable neck lights
- Hooga sleep light bulbs
Joovv and Mito don’t offer these features, so consider some of these accessories if you’re looking to avoid blue light at night.
But where Mito stands out is with its affordability. Mito panels are more powerful and less costly than Hooga, so it’s perfect for those looking for value for money.
Final Thoughts On Mito Red light Therapy Devices
Mito red light devices allow you to experience the benefits of red light therapy without the high cost. And if you‘re on a budget, you’ll be happy to know that Mito offers affordable monthly plans. This way, you don’t have to pay the full total at once.
The panels are basic, but the power output is higher than other options in the same cost range so you start seeing results sooner.
In short, Mito is worth your time and money because the panels have high irradiance at an affordable price. You also have plenty of options to choose from like the MitoMEGA, MitoMAX, MitoPRO 1500 and MitoMIN.
